Year 2015, assembled my X-Carve DIY kit, one thing i really like about any DIY kit is, i know
every part of my machine, this make fixing it really easy. also later in year 2016, assembling the 3D Printer DIY kit is consider very easy job.

Last month, Inventables sent me their X-Carve Upgrade Kit https://goo.gl/7CQBSQ.

This is not a How-to video, Inventables website has much better step by step. This video only to show what to expect if you ordered the upgrade kit, so you judge by yourself do you really need these upgrades?

WIDE MAKERSLIDE

  • Time: 15 minutes
  • Difficulty: 1/5 - very easy
  • Objective: improves the rigidity and reliability of the x-axis

My Thoughts?
i couldn't really tell the obvious difference, i feel the original slider is rigid enough, and i only cut softer wood & plastic, also my X-Carve is only 500mm. maybe this upgrade is for those 750mm & 1000mm X-Carve.

X-CONTROLLER

  • Time: 1 hour
  • Difficulty: 3/5 - must read instruction carefully
  • Objective: motion controller kit that has everything?

My Thoughts?
looks cool & in black aluminum! at first i thought it was an all-in-1 solution, too bad it requires external power supply for the spindle, not ideal for me. maybe this is only for those who use Dewalt or Bosch spindle. i wish x-controller also power the spindle

btw it has Emergency Stop, Hold, Cycle Start and Reset buttons, i used to do this within software on the laptop, maybe i'll like it after a while, i can only tell after few project later, will see...

Z-PROBE

  • Time: 5 minutes
  • Difficulty: 1/5 - very easy
  • Objective: reliably find the material surface electronically

My Thoughts?
good to have, super easy to setup (hardware), but i read on the forum that it need some setting to work properly. since i haven't actually carving, so i don't have any comment at the moment, will let you guys know in the future video.

they also sent me the Side-Board, but i didn't use because not going to mount my controller next to my X-Carve

Actually the upgrade i'm most excited about is THIS! :)

Dust Control System

the reason i don't carve as much as i should, DUST...
i will tell you about it in a separated video, thanks for watching! :)
